Matt, Beth, & Cole Gouthro and BMG Show Horses
Matt Gouthro was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada. He began riding as a kid and showing as a youth rider in barrel racing and AQHA all around events. After high school graduation, matt studied at Olds College in Alberta,Canada. In order to pursue a career in the Quarter Horse industry, Matt moved to the United States. He paid his dues working for top trainers, Jamie Bissel and Carl and Trisha Yamber. While working as an assistant trainer, Matt gained a strong work ethic and the opportunity to ride and show some of the top horses of their times. Later BMG Show Horses was founded in 2000.
Beth Gouthro grew up just outside of Staunton, Virginia where BMG Show Horses is today. She began riding at age four and showing at eight. Beth competed in a wide variety of disaplines as a youth including 4-H shows, saddleseat equitation and other ASHA events, team penning, cutting, western pleasure in APHA, and all around events in AQHA. Beth was extensively involved in 4-H and FFA horse judging, receiving top individual placings. She gained experience throughout her school years working for trainers, stables, and a vet clinic in her area. She studied at Blu Ridge Community College. Beth rode as a youth with top trainer Steve Meadows and later went to work as his assistant trainer. After meeting Matt in 2000, BMG Show Horses got it's start in Alabama.
The couple built BMG Show Horses from the ground up. In a little more than a year, the two transformed a riding lesson program and a herd of two year olds in to a show crew that earned a reserve championship and top ten placings at the all American Quarter Horse Congress. The following year, they had two more Congress champions. From there on BMG continued to turn out competitive horses and riders and continued earning prizes at the top AQHA and PHBA shows.
THe rest ... is history.
In September of 2010, Matt and Beth received a new addition to their family...
He made the 2010 Congress trip at just two weeks old and has been fitting right in ever since!
